In January this year, FICL took part in the Aid and Trade exhibition in Geneva , represented by Simeon Gabriel, Sales and Marketing Manager, and Joy Delaney, Senior Technologist. Aid and Trade is a forum to bring together professionals from the humanitarian sector with companies providing the products and services they need. Simeon, pictured manning the FICL stand, was invited to deliver a presentation on the merits of filtration as a tool in the fight against water-borne disease in the Water and Sanitation Workshop. The presentation of practical solutions for common problems, evidenced by real life case studies, was very well received.

	They are ideally suited to both emergency relief and ongoing community projects in developing countries. Over the last few months, FICL has done a lot of research in the humanitarian sector, talking to charities, NGOs, and UN organisations in order to target and improve its product offering to meet the needs of people without clean drinking water and relief workers who are trying to provide it. We were able to present a range of new product ideas and receive feedback directly from the people who use the products on the ground. Visual demonstrations such as the one pictured, showing the effectiveness of our ceramic filters, even with the most turbid water, proved very popular with delegates.
New Product - All stainless steel HIS
FICL is pleased to announce a new addition to the range of Doulton® pressure filter housings. In response to customer demand, we have developed an all stainless steel HIS with 3/8 inch push fit connections in the head (HIS Push Fit). This sleek filter housing comes with a fixing bracket which screws directly into the head of the filter for simple, solid wall mounting. The push fit connections offer ease of installation and mean that the housing can be fitted with the same DIY kit currently supplied to accompany the HIP. Doulton® Drinking Water Filters in Dubai
Traditionally, Doulton® ceramic drinking water filters have been available in the UAE in sanitary ware and hardware stores. However, FICL and our Territory Manager, Farid Fakherddin, have recently refocused promotional efforts towards more general retail outlets with great success. Farid and FICL's master distributor Rafco have become aware in recent years that shopping habits are changing within the UAE. Increasingly, the consumer is looking for all their shopping needs in one place. Therefore, it was decided to target Co-Op stores and Carrefour supermarkets, selling Doulton® water filters with the assistance of a promoter in each outlet. "Education is a key aspect of this promotional campaign", says Paul Hipkiss, FICL's Sales and Marketing Director. "The promoter is very knowledgeable about the product. They can advise the customer not only of the value of having a proven source of good tasting clean drinking water in their family home, but also help to identify the right Doulton® product for them. In association with our master distributor for North America, CFCI, Fairey Industrial Ceramics Limited was delighted to exhibit their range of Doulton® ceramic drinking water filters at WQA Aquatech USA 2006 in Chicago in March. The exhibition brought together professionals from all aspects of the water industry under one roof, providing the perfect opportunity to meet customers old and new. FICL took the chance to 'test the water' on a new range of prototype high-flow ceramic filters. These filters, with a maximum flow capability of up to 2000 litres per hour, could be launched in the second half of 2006.
